First, realize that this is NOT a news article, it’s an opinion piece. Simply count the number of times that the author writes “alarmist” in front of “computer models” etc. Second, this is not a scientific paper, it’s an interpretation of one. I’m certain that the authors of the scientific paper did not say man-made climate change is not real. What they said is more heat is escaping the atmosphere than [some] computer models predict. This is the nature of science – continued refinement of information.
And, like most of the individual scientific research, this one paper is NOT going to “blow gaping hole in global warming.” It *is possible* that scientists will eventually discredit global warming. It’s also possible that they’ll eventually discredit evolution. There *are* scientists who report data contrary to evolution. However, IMHO it’s still not likely, even with this new data.
The larger issue is the following: scientific opinion is that there is a consensus among the vast majority of peer-reviewed articles that anthropogenic climate change is real. Where the debate exists is in media coverage, particularly among those who have an opinion rather than are reporting in an unbiased way (largely never happens) in mainstream media.
